Online art exhibitions made for kids

art for kids

Why are art galleries focused on adults? I guess grown-ups like looking at landscapes and portraits but a kid might ask, “Wouldn’t it be more fun to look at paintings of lollies?”!

Spanish-based curator, Susana Rodriguez Escudero, has set up Susanita’s Little Gallery, an online art gallery dedicated to ‘Riquiño’, or ‘cute’ art. Riquiño art is often inspired by fairytales, animation and comics.

The first exhibition at Susanita’s Little Gallery celebrates Roald Dahl’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Artwork from artists from all around the world is included and the styles range from delicate watercolours and ink sketches to bold and bright pieces in oils. I particularly like the drawing of Augustus Gloop!

The artwork is available to purchase (prices for the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory collection range from €50 to €300) and international delivery is available.

We look forward to Susana’s next inspired exhibition!

Katrina Whelen

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
