Being a parent is hard. It can be confusing. It can be frustrating. It’s emotional and it’s chaotic. But it is also the absolute best thing in the world.
Whether you’ve had a rough day, a tough week or a bad year, take the time to read over this amazing list of personal affirmations submitted by our beautiful Babyologists to inspire, encourage and remind us mums that we are doing the very best we can, each and every day.
It’s been nearly two months since New Year when we all likely made a slew of resolutions, many of which have probably already been broken. But what if, instead of focusing on trying to change our lives through resolutions, we focused on embracing our lives through just one word?
What would that word be?
We asked our Babyology readers this question last week and were completely inspired by the results. Please, mums and mums-to-be, keep these powerful messages in the back of your minds each and every day.
And share your one word with us through Triumph’s One Word Declaration.
Finding the balance between work, relationships and parenting is an everyday struggle. Some days you will get it. Others you won’t. But every day, focus on finding a balance and know that you are doing the very best to get there.
Stop what you are doing and look at your little ones. Marvel at what you have created and live in this moment, this now, because being present, with them, is what matters the most.
The stress and pressure we put on ourselves as parents is hard to overcome at times and relaxation seems an impossible goal. But please, take the time to chill, to enjoy ‘me time’ and to unwind even if it’s only every once in a while.
There is so much hate, anger and sadness in the world. But there is also so much love. If you ever need a reminder of that, scoop up your little ones and give them a cuddle. The love they feel towards you and the love you have for them is enough to power your entire world, even on those really bad days.
Find the little things that make you happy and allow yourself to feel joy and have fun. This is what life is all about. Sure, you won’t be beaming all the time, but you can always find some aspect of happiness, even on the darkest days.
Be proud of what you have accomplished, who you are and what you aspire to become. Focus on the things that make you feel good about yourself. Surround yourself with friends who send positive energy your way. Allow yourself to enjoy your achievements. You deserve it.
You are stronger than you think. And sometimes you need to remind yourself of this.
Have the courage to let go of the negativity, the toxicity, the mistakes made and the people who have hurt you. Through forgiveness, either for yourself or for someone else, you will find peace.
At the end of the day, family is all that matters.
These are only a few of our favourite inspirational words from our readers. There were so many more – comfort, strength, fun, truth, tolerance, connection, sustainability, change, patience, discipline, femininity, peace, aspiration, joy, action, success, truth and respect – just to name a few.
Finally, I wanted to share my own ‘one word’ with our readers:
Because, even on the days when you don’t have the strength to cook dinner, when you don’t have the patience to deal with your grumpy kids, when you don’t have the energy to relax, when you can’t get past the negative to find the positive, you are still doing an awesome job.
Why have Triumph declared 2016 the year of the One Word Declaration? It’s because they’re all about helping women to feel inspired, comfortable and confident (which, let’s be honest, is exactly what a good bra can do for you!) and ready to tackle their lives in a positive way. So declare your own word at One Word Declaration and be inspired by positive messages from parents all around Australia.
Here’s to all the awesome mums out there who may not be nailing every aspect of life, but are certainly doing their very best. And this is all that matters, especially to our children.
