Old wheels, new wheels

Everyone remembers their first car… and the one they aspired to own! I had an old, basic, bright yellow Ford Laser – the only ‘feature’ being the AM/FM radio. I was 20 years old and my ultimate fantasy car was a soft-top Suzuki Sierra. I could see myself cruising to the beach with friends, roof down, and the wind in our hair…

Now I wish I had a car that magically cleaned itself! However, if you’re starting young, you might just aspire to owning the Bentley Le Mans pedal car from Britain’s Whippet Grey. This car is a replica of a model that set track records in the 1920s, and comes complete with a tan leather seat and ‘trims’ as well as a personalised number plate. At £5580 though, such style isn’t cheap!

If you’re desperate for an imported car from Whippet Grey, the toy Zecar may be at a more realistic price and scale. The simple design of the Zecar allows it to zoom around at high speed and nothing will stand in its way – it can flip, it can turn and no doubt kids will love it.

Whippet Grey delivers to Australia by arrangement.

She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
