The whopping gang dubbed Britain’s biggest family announced on Wednesday that baby number 20 is due later this year.
All in this together
Lancashire couple Noel and Sue Radford, stars of reality TV show 16 Kids and Counting, took to Facebook to spill the beans on their revised-up kid count.
The couple are mum and dad to ten boys and nine girls – plus the baby on the way. So far they’re parenting:
Phoebe, 8 months
Tragically, in 2014 the couple’s son Alfie was stillborn at 23 weeks. Baby Hallie was given the middle name Alphia in remembrance of him.
Well I guess the Australian psychic was wrong 😁
Sue, now 42, was just 14 when she fell pregnant with the couple’s first child. She and Noel are both adopted, so rather than give up their baby, they chose to become parents at this very tender age.
Three years later, they married and have continued to grow their family since.
The family live in a repurposed aged-care home, are hardworking, budget-savvy and proudly self-supported.
They say they have no credit card debt or finance agreements, and are even able to prioritise a family holiday every year, visiting Australia quite recently (which explains the psychic comment in their pregnancy announcement!)
Noel leaves for work at the family’s bakery at 5am, putting in an 11 hours shift each day, while Sue keeps the home fires burning and on track.
The household runs like a finely-tuned, 21 person-filled machine, with the Radfords telling Daily Mail each day involves a whopping nine loads of washing.
The family also go through 8 pints of milk, three litres of juice, three boxes of cereal and four rolls of toilet paper on a daily basis.
All up, the family spends just under $500 per week to feed their brood.
Ohhhh look what's for tea tonight. Can't beat a Radford's pie 😉 www.radfordspiecompany.co.uk
The gender of the impending bub has not yet been revealed, so we’re not sure if this baby will even things up for the girls as yet. That didn’t stop Radford Family fans responding with absolute delight, however:
“That’s made me really happy!! I recently lost my baby at 14 weeks and I’ve been struggling to find my smile….so thank you and god bless you and your beautiful family,” one excited follower wrote.
“This is the one family I actually kinda admire. 20 kids, and instead of benefits, they make their own money. Good on you!” one woman said.
“My dad was one of 19 and let me tell you he was not deprived or missed out on my nan and grandads time, nan made crosses and cooked homemade food for a wage and grandad had his own rag and bone and fruit stall, they worked hard and my dad had amazing childhood I wish you all the best on number 20, lovely news,” another fan posted.
Of course, there was a definite sprinkling of what-the-heck-naysayer thrown into the mix too, as people struggled to come to terms with the family’s epic size.
“20 is just ridiculous. The older ones will end up looking after the younger ones. It’s impossible to give each child the attention they deserve. It’s an addiction,” one commenter theorised.
“Geez, did you ever think about your carbon footprint and all the resources you’re using?” another follower posted.
“Overpopulation is an issue that you are def contributing to,” a commenter reprimanded.
“It’s a vagina, not a clown car…” another woman said.
How unkind. Ugh.
We wish this giant family all the best with their impending new addition. It’s plain to see that they all love each other to bits!
