Last week, we told you Hugh Grant was expecting baby number FIVE, and he’s shared even more about his gang of kids – and how they’ve changed his life.
Hugh’s your daddy?!
You could be forgiven for not realising Hugh was a dad at all, because he’s kept pretty quiet about this very important role. Until now, that is.
The very grown-up boyish actor appears to have loosened up a little, when it comes to talking about his family. He spoke to People Magazine over the weekend about the lengths he goes to, to keep his kids entertained.
“I think it’s always amusing to put your underpants on your head,” Hugh revealed to People TV. “My little girl, too, likes nappies on my head.”
Hugh and Swedish TV producer girlfriend, Anna Eberstein are currently expecting their third child together. Hugh’s also dad to two kids, five-year-old Felix and six-year-old Tabitha, with actor Tinglan Hong.
Hugh told People that having kids was a transformative and pretty terrific experience, overall.
“It’s just lovely to have all that love around. Suddenly you love someone more than yourself. It’s unheard of in my case. And they love you, and it’s all enchanting.”
He noted that he’s at the point in his life and career where he’s picking and choosing from more complex roles.
“I have 400 children and so many other things in my life, what’s nice is when work comes along, it tends to be a bit more challenging. I’m too old and ugly to be the young leading man in romantic comedies now, thank God,” the actor said.
Son’s out, bums out!
Not ugly enough to stop his son collapsing in giggles at the sight of his dad’s bum, it would seem.
“I made the mistake of showing one of my sons my ass all the time. ‘Hey, look at this!’ Then he taught every single child in West London to do the same,” Hugh told People.
This approach confirms what Hugh himself admitted, that he’s a bit of a silly softie when it comes to his kids. That said, he promises to be tough when it comes to spoiling them – although we’re not convinced …!
“I like my daughter very much,” Hugh told The Guardian . “I’m absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person.”
“I’ll be Lamb Daddy. But also my other worry is about – and as I say, there are few things in life I believe in 100% – but another one is not giving your children money. I see nothing but fuck-ups among my trust-fund friends … I would not want to do that to my children.”
Pretty nice to hear a bit more from this famous face, don’t you think? While his romantic life seems pretty complicated, it’s clear that his feelings about his kids are MUCH more straightforward – and adoring.
It seems they may not feel quite so enamoured of him however – or his work at least. See below! #snort
