Mother's Day with mum and baby

Dads and kids, listen up – we have an important tip for you. We know what mums really want this Mother’s Day.

And it’s as simple as can be – your undivided attention, and sleep. Lots of sleep. Breakfast in bed wouldn’t go astray, either.

We asked mums on our Facebook page to tell us their amazing Mother’s Day plans and describe their perfect Mother’s Day.

A few mums have extra reason to look forward to their special day on Sunday. Several are looking forward to their first Mother’s Day with their babies.

Reader Juliet Green says she wants to do nothing more on Mother’s Day than play and laugh with her beautiful little girl. “This time last year she had been in hospital for three months (my first Mother’s Day), so this is is super special and as long as we are together I don’t mind where we are,” she says.

Jessica Fisher is super excited too, because she is getting married the day before Mother’s Day. “I will finally share the same last name (as) our 22-month-old daughter,” she says.

Some mums can’t go past homemade cards and gifts. As Danika Armstrong puts it: “(My perfect Mother’s Day would be) having my beautiful boy bring me in a card/artwork/craft from kindy. Seeing his proud, nervous face light up when I tell him how much I love it.”

Spending quality time with the whole family is a popular request. Reader Pauline Elkins says: “My perfect Mother’s Day is watching Walt Disney movies and eating popcorn and ordering take out with my husband and two beautiful children. All day no phones; just the family.”

Some mums would love some time alone. “Using the bathroom without an audience and some flowers might be nice,” says Allie Dessman.

There was one common theme though, whatever our mums’ plans for the day.  As Kerry Bayliss puts it,  “Sleeeeep”.

So whether it’s a sleep-in, afternoon nap or uninterrupted night, take this tip from us – you won’t go wrong if you make sure shut-eye of some kind is part of your plans for mum tomorrow. (Of course if you do need some extra inspiration, check out our Mother’s Day gift and craft ideas).
