Teresa Palmer’s vegan toddler couldn’t bear to “eat his friends”

Teresa Palmer and family

Actor Teresa Palmer is headed to a film shoot in Wales with her husband Mark Webber and the two kids they share, but the high-profile mum took time out before she left to talk about the family’s vegan approach to life.

Fish are friends

Hacksaw Ridge and Point Break star Teresa was formerly a vegetarian, but says she’s made the jump to full-blown veganism, prompted by son Bodhi Rain’s concerns about their animal pals.

“He said to me ‘Mummy I don’t want to eat fish anymore, fish are my friends’,” Teresa explained to The Daily Telegraph. “We decided as a family that veganism fitted best with our philosophy and views on the world.”

She also revealed that concerns about high mercury levels in her bloodstream were a further incentive to shelve the seafood.

Blended family

Teresa and her actor hubby (who starred in Snow Day and Scott Pilgrim vs the World ) are parents to two little boys. Bodhi is 2 and Forest Sage is 8-months-old.

Mark is also dad to a 9-year-old son, Isaac, from his previous relationship with actor Frankie Shaw. Isaac often pops up on Teresa’s Instagram and these guys seem to have the blended family totally down pat.

The family will spend their time circling from filming locations, to their home in Beachwood Canyon in LA and then back to their rural property at Scott Creek, Adelaide.

The mum-of-two says she’s looking forward to getting back to work after taking some time out following Forest’s birth.

“I’m excited to get back to work,” Teresa said.

“It’s been 18 months of down time, which was a choice and a beautiful time of family connection and being all together. Now I’m looking forward to balancing both.”

Modern romance

The couple’s relationship began unconventionally in 2012, when Teresa tweeted to Mark, and he DM’d her to say thanks. The pair began emailing and it was on like Donkey Kong. Then they got married. In Mexico!

“About 20 emails in, I realized, ‘Shit, this is my soulmate,’” Mark told The Daily Beast. “And I told her I loved her.”

“We decided to get pregnant in our emails,” Teresa confirmed. “We were like, ‘This is happening.’ We are husband and wife.”

Five years later and things are going swimmingly.

Teresa – who blogs prolifically at Your Zen Life – has previously spoken about living her dream, saying she feels very grateful for the hand she’s been dealt.

“I look at my life, and I just feel incredibly blessed. I met a man—he’s my husband—I have a child, we made a movie together, I’ve been working a lot, and I bought a house in Beachwood Canyon, which was always my dream.”

“The last few years have felt like home to me, and it took me a long time to get to that place.”

Looks like a pretty nice place, right?!

We have had a really challenging past few days with our precious Bodhi so sick. Two things; my heart goes out to all parents having to go through the heartache of watching their child in physical suffering. We are the lucky ones, Bodhi will be on the mend soon but it's really shaken us up, I can't stop thinking about all those other parents in a much worse position than us. Secondly to the medical team @hamiltonisland Dr Mike, Dr Andrew, nurse Christine, paramedic Chris and all the others @Hamiltonisland (looking at you Dean!) THANK YOU what a loving and connective community this beautiful island is. Also to the big hearted, supportive and entirely accommodating team @audiaustralia we will forever be grateful for your support. Way to show those beautiful true colours in the first few weeks of our partnership 🙏🙏😍❤️ #familyallaround
