This incredible video delivers a birthing story like no other. Watch this mum deliver her own baby in the passenger seat of a moving vehicle as her husband drives and films the entire thing.
Lesia Pettijohn never expected her third child to be born this way. And she certainly never expected to have 11 million people watch it happen.
In the video, Lesia, who is in the very late stages of labour, births her third child, a little boy named Josiah, while her husband, John Pettijohn, calmly drives to a birthing centre. John manages to film the entire thing with a GoPro positioned in his lap.
Despite the incredible pain, intense need to push and obstacles such as pants and a seatbelt, Lesia and her husband remain completely cool, calm and in control the entire time.
In fact, at the end of the video the new dad even jokes, “So I wonder if we still have to pay for using the birth centre?”
The couple explain that they just had to keep driving as they didn’t have a working mobile phone to call for help. “I really didn’t wanna have him in the car… I was scared, I didn’t know if he would be breathing okay,” says the mum-of-three.
However, despite the unconventional birth, little Josiah is healthy and doing great. He weighed in at an incredible 4.5 kilograms when they reached the Texas centre and is the couple’s first boy. They already have two daughters, aged one and two.
This video reminds us just how remarkable women are, just how powerful the birth experience is and just how important it is to have a supportive partner in the driving seat, whether you make it to the labour ward or not!
