When this mum posted her feelings about pregnant sex, mothers and pregnant women everywhere breathed a sigh of relief. Nope, it’s NOT just you!
Sex during late pregnancy
Let’s face it shall we, ladies? Sex when you’re heavily pregnant is not all it’s cracked up to be. While some women love it and in fact, claim to feel even more amorous than usual when they’re growing their bub, many of us would really rather leave it than take it.
You’re exhausted, slightly (maybe very) anxious about the upcoming birth, and HUGE. If it’s summer time, you’re usually sweating buckets, and in the winter, well – you may well still be sweating buckets, as those delightful hormones wreak havoc on your body’s thermostat.
At 30 weeks pregnant with baby number four, she is well-versed in the intricacies and intimacies of late pregnancy with your partner.
“I know how I got in this situation and I promised myself this time would be different. I’ll embrace it, ” she posted. “I’m going to be the best sex goddess ever when pregnant.”
Expectation vs reality
But the reality is far from the ‘goddess’ vision she wished for, and instead, her post goes on to explain how she really feels about having sex with her husband while she’s heavily pregnant.
“Well here I am. Beach whaled AF. Sweaty. Wearing a liner – not because I’m that kind of wet.”
Oh yeah, we hear you sister!
“I have a rash on my stomach from stretching skin,” she goes on. “My breasts are weapons they’ll knock anyone out. Heavy breathing. My last shaving job was a touch a feel job.”

Mums can relate
Mel’s post has been liked on Facebook almost 3,000 times and it’s easy to see why, when you read through the comments. So many mums relating to her very honest post and admitting that they feel the same way!
“Yup I hear ya! I’m 35 weeks pregnant and u took the words right outta my mouth,” declared one mum-to-be.
Another shared, “Isn’t it crazy. When I was pregnant put 21kg on and he would still call me beautiful and want me every night. Their deffinatly (sp) keepers when they love us even when we know we are whales.”
Luckily, Mel has a very understanding husband who loves her regardless of her size, sweatiness, or state of pregnancy.
“I’m filled with 10 fingers, 10 toes and all sorts of body parts that stick out. And he’d still happily call me beautiful and sexy. Like what is wrong with this man? I’m at my worst. I’m leaking, I stink, I moan and grown, I’m hairy… and he still wants me.”

Of course he does, Mel. Because despite all of the above discomforts and supposed “turn offs”, you are still the woman he married, the woman who has borne his children, the woman that he loves.
Hang onto him – he’s a keeper!
How did you feel about sex while you were pregnant. Were you keen, or was it just a big NO?
