Miss Nina & the Jumping Jacks’ new album has kids partying like it’s their birthdays

Miss Nina & the Jumping Jacks’ music is exclusively for kids, but grown-ups will love it for its ability to keep kids up and adorably dancing. Think of the videos you’ll be able to send to nana.

Kids need variety, as evidenced by the mountain of ignored toys decorating your lounge. Miss Nina & the Jumping Jacks’ new album, Every Day’s Your Birthday is energetic, interactive and offers kids something new from song to song.

With an introduction that’s reminiscent of classic Creedence Clearwater Revival, the title track is all about shaking off glum moods by pretending every day is your birthday. Not a bad life skill if you ask us. Freeze Dance brings in the horns for a great dancing number that would be the perfect party song for a game of musical chairs or pass the parcel.

There are songs with wordplay like Colours of You, and reimaginings of classic songs like Five Little Pumpkins and The (Silly) Wheels on the Bus whose musical accompaniment builds with each verse until a whole marching band has joined the singing, and “the children on the bus jump and dance”.

Miss Nina’s album wraps up with an 80s hip hop track DJ in my PJs. It’s not exactly relaxing, but it’s sure to have kids laughing.
