A little kooky, a lot quirky – that’s the new season of clothes by cooler than cool Swedish designer Mini Rodini.
Cassandra Rhodin, the designer behind Mini Rodini, has a bonafide performer in her family tree – a great grandfather who, as if out of a storybook, ran away with the circus. His stage name, the Gypsy Prince Rodini, is the inspiration for the name of this brand, and his circus act the inspiration for the prints.
Piercingly vivid colours and a repeating pattern of bow-tie wearing, buck-toothed creatures dominate the collection. There are basic tees and track suits, marbled leggings (€40) and shift dresses (€46), oversized jackets (€95) and leotards with ruffled portrait collars that wouldn’t look out of place in a trapeze show. Neutral vertical black and white stripes on shorts, tees and dresses act as a perfect foil to the bright colours and bold prints.
Mini Rodini knows kids love to be comfortable. Given the choice, they’d wear rainboots and tracky dacks every day of their lives. Made from organic cotton with silhouettes designed for plenty of movement, Mini Rodini clothes are bound to inspire kids to wear something a bit more special.
Perhaps their belief in kids’ quest for comfort is most on show in their footwear offering, which consists of one style of super cushy velcro sneaker (€69). Don’t let the single style fool you into thinking the shoes are boring – each pair is brightly two-toned and looks like it’s been dipped in sparkly hundreds and thousands.
Mini Rodini’s collection is available online, and ships to Australia.
