Be inspired by The New Artisans.
The New Artisans is a sumptuous peek inside the world of seventy-five designers and artists from nineteen countries. Using traditional craft techniques and materials – such as glass, metal, paper, textiles and wood, the ‘new artisans’ provide a contemporary take on desirable, affordable, functional or purely decorative objects for the modern home.
Don’t expect a twee, cottagey overload – The New Artisans is catalogued by style expert Olivier Dupon whose love of all things handmade and sharp eye for unique design ensures that everything that has made it into this book is quite simply breathtaking.
There is a broad range covered but I do like the whimsical designs of Sydney-based textile designer Richard McAdam, whose drawing of a deer is featured on the cover of The New Artisans. And as someone with a weakness for brooches, I must say the ceramic birds by Angus & Celeste are a joy!
I’m not going to invent kid-related reasons to justify including The New Artisans on Babyology – instead, just buy it for yourself and revel in the stunning photography, inspired work and creative talent (and know the intrinsic value of a home that makes you happy!).
The New Artisans is available from Book Depository for approximately $38. Delivery to Australia is free.
