There doesn’t seem to be much of a craze for stamp collecting anymore in these days of instant communication. These gorgeous children’s artworks just go to show how an old stamp can be a thing of beauty.
To be honest, although I had a stamp collecting stage as a child, I could never really understand the point of collecting old stamps just to file them away in a folder on a shelf. These lovely artworks though, I can totally understand! They are the work of Stacey Howard at Max & Me, a Melbourne-based business that grew out of Stacey’s desire to find something unique for her son’s bedroom wall.
Stacey takes vintage postage stamps from all over the world and uses them to create original designs that come to you ready to frame. There are several gorgeous designs available like the owl and hot air balloon below, but her specialty is monograms. You choose the colours for the monograms from a range she has available.
You can view the range and purchase them at Cheese & Pickles, the first official stockist. Prices begin at $45.
