Lose your head over these knitted animal and dinosaur creations

Think decorating in the style of an English country manor or a Rocky Mountains hunting lodge, but with a softer, cosier feel – yes, it’s faux taxidermy that you can make yourself.

British designer Louise Walker has created a collection of dinosaurs and woodland friends, ready for the nursery wall. Although Louise’s designs appear to be in the tradition of taxidermy, closer inspection reveals these beauties are 100 per cent cruelty-free, knitted creations.

Choose from various forest creatures such as deer, foxes and badgers, or less traditional specimens such as a T-Rex or other prehistoric beasties, and start knitting your own Animal Head. Each Animal Head kit comes complete with all that you’ll need including a pattern and step-by-step instructions, yarn, knitting needles and a back-board on which to mount and hang your finished piece. The kits are aimed at beginner to intermediate knitters.

As well as the Animal Head kits, Louise also sells knitting patterns and books and, for those who aren’t confident with the knitting needles but want their own piece of faux taxidermy, finished Animal Heads.

Find the Animal Heads kits at Etsy store, Sincerely Louise. Kits begin at $75 and Sincerely Louise ships worldwide.
