Stop everything! There’s a ‘new’ Dr. Seuss book!
A new Dr Seuss book is to be published in July, following the discovery of a box of manuscripts and sketches at the home of celebrated children’s author Ted Geisel, better-known as Dr. Seuss.
Fans (and I think that covers everyone, don’t you?!) can rejoice because there’s not just one, but at least two new Seuss titles on the way.
First up is What Pet Should I Get?. Random House associate publishing director, Cathy Goldsmith said that What Pet Should I Get? was likely written between 1958 and 1962. The book features the same brother and sister seen in Dr Seuss’s 1960 classic, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
The publication of What Pet Should I Get? will coincide with the 25 year anniversary of the publication of the last book of Dr. Seuss’s career, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!.
It’s not hard to see what all the fuss is about. Dr. Seuss is a perennial favourite with children from all generations and his books are consistently found in current best-seller lists, decades after their first publication. Dr Seuss previously published 46 children’s books, including classics such as Horton Hears a Who!, The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. His stories have also been made into television shows, films and a Broadway musical.
