Most of my grand plans for creative play don’t really come to much. It’s not that my kids don’t like to create things – give my son a large cardboard box and free reign over the sticky tape and he’ll entertain himself for hours and hours. It’s more that I am lacking in ideas to get them going, and when ideas do abound, it seems I am always missing one or two crucial ingredients – “now find a 13cm pipe cleaner and a wood offcut shaped like a trapezium”.
It seems I’m not the only one, because UK-based Little Puggle have just launched shipping to Australia on their subscription craft delivery service, which as far as we know, is the only one of its kind. Subscribers sign up on a month-by-month basis, and every month a new box of craft supplies based upon your chosen theme is delivered right to your door. Not only do the boxes contain craft kits from leading high-end suppliers, but also plenty of activity books, stickers, colouring cards, art supplies and not least of all, a guide for adults giving good ideas on how to get started with it all.
They were lovely enough to send one over to Mandi to try out, and as you can see from the shot below, it provided hours of entertainment for her girls. The boxes are suitable for children aged three to seven. There are two sizes – the standard box contains craft activities for one to two children (depending on their commitment!) and the Little Puggle Playdate Box contains enough to keep up to four children entertained. You can even buy gift subscriptions for other people.
The standard Little Puggle Box subscription begins at £19.95 per month, and the Playdate box is £29.95 per month. Shipping to Australia is £11 on top of those prices.
