Little Bookwormz – for the cultured child

It’s all about books and babies at Little Bookwormz.

Designers (and bibliophiles) Paula Sewell and Janice Markham have created Little Bookwormz, a line of children’s clothing that celebrates all things books – famous quotes, famous authors and reading genres (think sci-fi, noir and comics).

I won’t pretend otherwise, my favourite design is ‘E is for Emily’ – I never tire of the Cathy and Heathcliff drama and the simple, stylised graphic of Emily Bronte is fabulous. I am also quite partial to the t-shirt featuring a quote from seventeenth century poet John Dunne. The quote, “Teach me to hear mermaids singing”, is such a lovely sentiment for a child (although the line is from the poem ‘Song: Go, and Catch a Falling Star’ which is actually about the impossible search for a beautiful and loyal woman!).

Little Bookwormz offer their designs as onesies, bibs and t-shirts for toddlers through to adult sizes. Onesies and t-shirts are US$26 each and bibs are US$8. Little Bookwormz ships internationally.

Katrina Whelen

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
