I love the quaint, yet utterly refined look achieved by
Lili & The Funky Boys’
Esther Loonen. Her Dutch design roots shine through the stunning Winter
’08/’09 collections that have just been released for the
European cold season. The name of the label almost belies the subtle
beauty of the garments, but really they speak for themsleves.
The Alpaca Bolero jackets and dresses look so cosy – in fact
they’re just perfect for the brutal cold we’re experiencing right now.
still enough cold weather left to get some wear, and if you buy next
year’s size, they’ll fit for another season! I’m completely besotted
the hand embroidered neck on the 100% wool Maple dress. The attention
to detail is amazing as each dress is fully lined, with a
button fastening at the back that opens to create a very wide opening
for baby’s head.
I also adore the outfit called ‘Mini Lord’ and with
the tops in this ensemble available in sizes up to 18 months, it appears my 10 month old baby mammoth may be in with a chance!
One of the most overtly brilliant aspects of the collection is the
use of unusual colours, and combining them in such a way that makes
for a harmonious look. Natural fibres are used – Alpaca wool, 100%
cotton, terry towelling – as well as wooden buttons on some of the
shirts. Most of the range I consider to be unisex, making the apparel a
great buy for people with both genders of children.
One of my favourite things about
Little Fashion Gallery is
the way oufits are already put together for you with the combined price
already calculated. It makes buying a beautiful outfit
effortless, and with most of us being time-poor, that’s a bonus.
Clothing starts at €30 a piece, right up to
€179 for the full outfits. Little Fashion Gallery will ship to
