When I look at the beautiful children’s furniture by
Left Hand Make I realise how badly our own needs replacing. For my youngest son’s birthday in October I’ll be seriously considering this Small One table and chairs. I love the squat forms and curved edges of the kids table and chair set – just fabulous for kids who fling themselves around without caution and constantly catch themselves on sharp edges.
Made from ethically produced Scandinavian Birch plywood with the
pegs being made of native Australian timber, this set is designed for the comfort of our
littlest people by its left-handed maker Chris Byrne. Safety, beauty
and sustainability were the foremost ideals behind the Small One
range. Chris was inspired by an heirloom he received as a four year
old, which was made from driftwood from Scotland and crafted
by his uncle. It has served
all of the children in his family well and now he creates heirloom
pieces for design-conscious parents.
Of course it meets all
Australian safety standards and the chairs sit neatly under the table
when not being used, making more space in your home.
I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for a user-friendly baby
change table, the next item on the Left Hand Make agenda.
$450 from Mellimoomoo plus shipping. You can also buy
the pieces separately.
