Learn the ABCs with Helen Dardik

The first time I clapped eyes on Canadian artist Helen Dardik’s illustrations I was completely in love. Her illustration style is unique and unforgettable, combining free use of colours and fanciful wording. It’s slightly childlike but has a sophisticated flair that pervades each work of art, which makes each piece fun and inspiring. What art should be, I think. I own one of her illustrations and it proudly hangs in our kitchen, brightening up the space.

So when I was perusing the Etsy shop Monkey Powered and found her new limited edition ABC chart, I was impressed. The colours are impeccable and will make an easy addition into any child’s room. The chart will stimulate the imagination and enable any parent, grandparent or caregiver to take part in the learning of the alphabet in a lively and entertaining fashion.

My favourite bit of the whole chart is the unicorn for the letter ‘U’ and the talking apple for the letter ‘A.’ As it’s a limited edition print, I think I’ll snap one up now to keep for any future use. If you want to do the same, go to Monkey Powered and grab one for US$20 with shipping to Australia an extra US$6.50. Each print is signed, numbered and dated.

Update – Helen Dardik now has her own Etsy shop with a stack of prints to choose from!
