Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and musician husband Josh Kelley’s new baby has arrived, a brother for the couple’s two daughters, 4-year-old Adalaide and 8-year-old Naleigh.
The couple welcomed Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr on December 20, scooting expertly under the radar until now.
Katherine spent most of her pregnancy away from the spotlight, so we’re not really surprised they’ve kept a lid on the latest addition for as long as possible.
The pair adopted Naleigh (NAY-lee) in 2009 and Adalaide in 2013, then tried her hand at pregnancy, third time around. She’s obviously come through with flying colours.
“I wasn’t sure pregnancy was even in the cards for us. Turns out it was very much in the cards!”
“It made absolutely no difference”
Katherine feels no need to make distinctions between her kids and the way they became family, instead drawing from her own childhood experience and loving the heck out of them all.
“My mother had biological children and an adopted child and said it made absolutely no difference. They’re yours. You love them the moment they’re put into your arms,” Katherine told Scholastic Parents after Naleigh’s adoption.
“My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea,” she explained.
Solid as a rock
The couple have been together for over ten years, meeting in 2005 on the set of one of his music videos and getting engaged in 2006.
They married just before Christmas, 2007 in Utah, as the mum-of-three was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints faith.
While Heigl is perhaps best known for her role in Grey’s Anatomy (for which she received an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe nomination), she also starred opposite Seth Rogan in Judd Apatow’s hit Knocked Up.
Suffice to say she is knocked up no more! Congrats to the Heigl-Kelley clan! Welcome baby Josh!
