About this time last year I was lamenting how my daughter’s feet had grown too big for See Kai Run shoes. Oh happy day! See Kai Run – my favourite footwear in the whole wide world – has just launched a new line for bigger kids!
Come meet Kai, a superlative shoe label in the spirit of See Kai Run but especially for pre-schoolers and slightly older kids. And my, oh my, hasn’t it been worth the wait! This new offshoot takes everything we love about See Kai Run shoes – the butter-soft leather, the no-need-to-wear-them-in feel, the easy-on-easy-off Velcro closures and the funky designs – and repackages them for not-so-tiny feet.
See Kai Run founder Cause Haun tells us that people have been badgering her to make the original shoes in larger sizes ever since she launched the label back in 2004. Well, it just goes to show what a bit of pester power can do.
The inaugural collection, launched stateside just this week, has five styles for girls and three for boys to fit from about aged two-and-a-half to six years. I’ve died and gone to Da’mi heaven – what a gloriously pink Mary Jane (pictured above) – and find myself quite partial to the Chloe too. For boys, the Emmett with its yellow stripe will be a sure favourite.
You can drool over at the new collection at See Kai Run’s US site but alas, shipping is not available to Australia. Kai should arrive at local stockists by early next year, along with new collections for See Kai Run and Smaller (below). We’ll let you know more about Australian pricing and exactly when they’ll land soon.
