Some of the most innovative and well-loved baby and children’s products came from the minds of entrpreneurial parents. It’s one thing to have a brilliant product idea, and another thing entirely to make that product suitable for an ever-expanding and increasinlgy discerning market. Getting an idea off the ground and into stores involves skills which may be entirely new, and expert guidance is essential to success.
Bébé has created the ‘Handmade to Retail Challenge’, a competition aimed at unearthing new talent in handmade children’s goods, and providing mentoring to propel the product to retail shops. There will be three lucky finalists, whose products will feature for a minimum of three months at Bébé’s South Yarra store, after this process of mentoring has taken place. They will also each receive a $50 online voucher.
The six categories include wall art and decor, bedding, accessories, toys, parenting products and gifts. Items must be modern, unique and functional, as stated by the design brief. The competition closes 31 August 2009, and winners will be announced 7 September.
