John Galliano Kids’ latest collection has just launched, and it’s raised many an eyebrow.
There’s no shortage of designers branching out into miniature fashion: Kenzo, Oscar de la Renta, Paul Smith Junior, Junior Gaultier, Chloé, Little Marc Jacobs, BOSS Kids, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Missoni, Roksanda Ilincic and Tommy Hilfiger – just to name a few. Often the children’s version is a lot less couture and a little more child-like. But John Galliano Kids’ autumn/winter 2013 collection has attracted some controversy, as it mimics a previous adult collection that drew inspiration from the homeless.
This collection of John Galliano Kids has been labelled hobo couture, much like one of Galliano’s former collections. Newspaper print features heavily in much of the clothing, which includes tailored jackets, hats, dresses and jeans.
I must admit, I’m not completely convinced with this styling for kids, but it is a unique take on children’s wear. What are your thoughts?
