Jessica Alba gets real about pregnancy: “I usually feel like Humpty Dumpty”

Jessica Alba before and after shot

Jessica Alba fancied herself up for a gala a couple of nights ago, but was at pains to point out that she did not take pregnancy in her glamour stride.

“Slothing around and hormonal”

Jess and husband producer Cash Warren are expecting their first baby boy, a brother for nine-year-old Honor and six-year-old Haven. We’re fairly sure he will have an “H” name too – “It has to be single or double syllable, has to be an ‘H’ and it also has to be a word. It can’t be too weird because you never know,” Jess revealed on Jimmy Fallon’s show.

Jess  told People Magazine it was nice to get frocked up and into some fabulous hair and make-up, because her pregnant self usually felt far from gorgeous.

“I like that I actually feel glamorous,” she said. “I don’t feel glamorous at all when I’m pregnant, so it’s nice to kind of dress up and feel beautiful.”

“I usually feel sort of like Humpty Dumpty, slothing around and hormonal, and nothing fits the same. But in this dress, I actually feel kind of pretty.”

The mum-of-nearly-three says the family is adjusting swimmingly to this baby boy news.

“My six-year-old, she was worried about being a middle child, but she gets to be a big sister and a little sister, so she’s stoked about that,” Jess told Rachael Ray recently. “And she doesn’t have to compete with another girl.”

Keeping it real

Jess is never backwards in coming forwards with some parenting real talk, and it’s a relief to hear famous and well-resourced parents are dealing with the same struggles. #ItsNotJustUs!

“You always feel compromised and like you’re pulled in too many directions. It’s a balance that I have yet to see perfectly achieved,” Jess recently told US Today.

“I love the cuddle time, but at the same time, I feel so drained. It’s like there is no me time. So, I am like OK, which kid do I choose first? Is there going to be a fight? But it is the only quiet time we get with them to talk about their day – and they open up in a different way when they are laying down.”

“It’s hard,” she summed up.

The event Jess attended is a great one, and totally celebrity-studded.

@baby2baby has distributed over 34 million basic essentials to 150,000 low-income children in Los Angeles and tens of thousands more across the country!” she explained.
