Attention working mums – Hollywood Sweetheart and Celebrity Supermum Jennifer Garner has uncovered the secret to balancing career, children and co-parenting. In a recent interview, she shares her pearls of wisdom with other working mums and we love her even more for it.
Some women are destined to be great mothers. Jennifer Garner is certainly one of them. Her grace and eloquence on and off screen shines through and she has never been shy about sharing her values when raising her three children.
She and her ex, Ben Affleck have three adorable little ones together – Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, four. The couple, who split in June 2015, are a constant in the social spotlight, not for their celebrity antics but for their ability to co-parent their kids in (what looks like) peace.
In a recent interview Jennifer reveals how she manages to balance career, children and co-parenting without losing her cool. And the answer lies in going out at night. While she does try to spend one-on-one time with her children every day and attempts to keep the bedtime routine as normal as possible, sometimes this isn’t the case.
“I work, and I have a job that means that sometimes I have to go out at night,” Jennifer explains to NBC’s Today. “And sometimes I need to go out at night just for me.”
In addition to indulging in a bit of ‘me’ time, Jennifer also tries to set a good example for her kids in everything that she does. Kids, after all, are always watching you.
“I don’t think empathy is something you can drill in someone’s head. Overall, they are watching you really carefully,” Jennifer, 44, tells NBC’s Today. “If you care about other people, they will too.”
But perhaps the thing that makes Jen so incredible in our eyes is her ability to always put her kids first. Despite undergoing a separation, the couple have made a conscious decision to remain civil and spend time together as a family for the sake of their kids.
“We are definitely a modern family.” she said, adding, “We’re doing really well.”
And, like all mums, Jen admits her kids are growing up way too quickly. Jen recently had to purchase a laptop for her eldest, Violet, as part of the school curriculum and she is well aware that Violet will soon be entering the throes of social media.
“She’s not on social media yet – her school has a no social media policy until sixth grade – but I know it’s coming soon.”
Good luck with that one Jen!
