Stunning fabrics and superb construction form top priorities in my ‘must have’ list for children’s clothing. I couldn’t go past these amazingly chic creations derived from the collaboration of Sandra Isaksson, illustrator and founder of Isak, and Australian company Three Little Trees. This is the first clothing collection for Isak and upon finding them as I was devouring the delicious Isak website, I actually gasped. The colours, print and styles feel familiar yet are distinct and individual at the same time.
The range is inspired by the story book Kaixaviah, illustrated by Sandra, in which a little bird and two girls plant trees and save the forests. In celebration of this, all items come with a small bag of native seeds for our little ones to plant and watch grow. A fabulous way to teach children to care for our earth.
Each garment has a groovy name, such as Tokyo Romper, Geisha Dress (my personal fave) and Sumo Shirt. The red Wasabi Hoodie (pictured above) is an innovative take on the classic tracksuit. It zips up at the back and features Isak fabric lining with lined pockets.
Each piece can be layered for wear anytime of the year and the 100 per cent cotton confections are all hand-printed using non-toxic dyes. They have also produced some gorgeous bedding for cots and single beds.
To get your hands on any of this delightful clothing in Australia, head to Three Little Trees. Prices can be requested via email. Otherwise, the entire range is also available on the Isak website in sizes from infant to five years. Prices are from £18 to £40, plus postage to Australia.
