“I need witchcraft” Chrissy Teigen pleads for magic to cure pregnancy headaches

Chrissy Teigen

The hormonal headaches of pregnancy are taking their toll on expectant mum Chrissy Teigen, and she took to Twitter to beg for magical relief.

“I need witchcraft”

While the model and TV host says she really does love being pregnant, she revealed that these pesky headaches are a debilitating sting-in-the-tail.

“I love being pregnant. I like it more than not being pregnant. But the headaches, my god the headaches. Someone … please help. Don’t say water. Or Tylenol. Or iron. Or magnesium. I need witchcraft,” Chrissy posted. Luckily, Chrissy’s ever loyal fans had plenty of ideas on how to keep this painful problem at bay.

A few people tipped Chrissy off to the various benefits of coffee, coffee AND Tylenol combined, McDonalds, KFC, peanut butter sandwiches, 7-11 Slurpees and … chicken tenders with mashed potato. Preach.

Others recommended various assorted cure-alls including; acupuncture, Vicks Vaporub, yoga, smoking weed, Benadryl, Alka Seltzer and going to the chiropractor. Some clowns even suggested taking inspiration from the very witchy TV show, Charmed, and possibly transferring the pregnancy to husband, singer John Legend, to whisk the pesky headaches away.

Oil wrestling

Unluckily, many suggested aromatherapy, which created a whole new set of headaches for Chrissy. She was not pleased about this. Basically it was the kind of troll-y oil wrestling nobody needs to be part of.

“Please stop fighting about aromatherapy in my mentions. Why do I have to say this?” Chrissy posted as various followers hotly debated if and where to apply essential oils, and how/if they should be diluted.

“Essential oils girl, lavender, or peppermint. Rub it right on those temples,” one lady wrote.

This was like a red flag to a bull, because it was quickly on like Donkey Kong and Chrissy’s headaches were soon forgotten. Twitterers fell over themselves, pointing out that peppermint oil may not be appropriate for pregnant ladies, that the temples were the wrong place to put it, that it can spark allergies, that it needs to be diluted, that others are diluting it incorrectly. Phew. Jeez.

Don’t mention the oil.

It’s a thing

Chrissy’s not the only mum rueing the agony of hormonal headaches (and most certainly, sadly won’t be the last). Miranda Kerr just revealed her second pregnancy is rife with headache woes, and less-famous but equally challenged mums across the globe were also feeling the pain.

“I have been getting hormonal headaches, which I never got with Flynn,” Miranda recently told US Weekly. “My doctor said [with] the second pregnancy, your hormones kind of kick in a little stronger because they’re like, ‘Oh, yeah. I know what’s happening. I know what to do.’ So that’s probably why.”

Hormones, fluctuating blood sugar levels, increased blood volume, withdrawal from caffeine, lack of sleep, dehydration and stress are the usual root causes of headaches during pregnancy.

Here’s hoping that Chrissy finds some relief soon, and that people stop fighting about those calming essential oils.
