Don’t let the name fool you, this brand is Australian. But it does draw influence for its supremely-styled children’s clothing from across the seas.
Aussie designers really do make some amazing kids clothing. Petit De Nimes is a prime example – with senior designer Sandra Parente having worked for Levi Strauss Australia, Grab Denim and Elwood Clothing. Her penchant for superb French detailing and beautiful clothing shines through the collections.
Petit De Nimes started in Melbourne in 2008, and aims to connect the heritage of France with beautiful knitwear and denim. The knitwear is design to particularly suit denim.
The range includes clothing for children aged between two and eight, and the mix and match vibe is very evident. The boys’ Sailor Zip Thru ($69.95) is one of those pieces you can buy a little on the larger size and get plenty of wear over several seasons. The versatility of the clothing is great too – like the boys’ two in one Double Cruiser Tee (pictured underneath the Sailor Zip Thru above), which gives you a couple of looks for $39.95.
The denim chambray De Nimes Dress (above right) is really beautiful, and timeless, for $79.95.
You can shop the Petit De Nimes current collection online (free shipping in Australia), or find it in boutiques in New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand.
