Hilarious photos put strange spin on parenting

Every now and then you see a photo on a website or ad depicting family life that makes you think: “What the?” You know, kids eating without mess; unstained white couches, mums blissfully breastfeeding in ball gowns; babies peacefully sleeping – that kind of thing.

You could be forgiven for thinking the people who set up stock photos are mocking us. Well, now a blog is turning that mockery on its head, making fun of photos that really don’t show parenting how it is.

Tumblr blog It’s Like They Know Us features a collection of images, each with very tongue-in-cheek commentary. “Relax on your pristine white couch and enjoy these realistic depictions of motherhood,” it says.

Here are some of our favourites, with the blog’s captions under each image:

“I just wandered in from the modeling agency next door and decided to feed your child fresh fruit. We are all wearing clean clothes.”

“I am getting so much work done. Toddlers are easy.”

“My clients love when I bring the baby to meetings. My severe bun lets them know I mean business.”

“Pregnant ladies are known for their love of salads.”

My personal favourite – note the bottles aren’t even attached to anything. “I call this piece, ‘Woman with Magic Pump, Cereal’,” the blog poster says.
