Help Babyology break the poverty cycle with The Hunger Project

When you live in a nation dubbed The Lucky Country, it can be difficult to comprehend that children around the world are still suffering through poverty. Babyology is heading to Mexico to be part of an incredible project, spanning more than three decades, that’s working towards ending world hunger – and here’s how you can help.

Babyology managing editor Mandi is on the verge of embarking on a life-changing trip, as part of the 2015 Business Chicks Leadership and Immersion Programme. She will travel to Mexico in October, as part of a project that raises funds for families living in poverty. And we’d love our Babyology community to help us raise funds for this incredibly worthy cause.

The Hunger Project has worked for 35 years to help create a world where poverty no longer exists. As Mandi explains: “The Hunger Project works in Africa, India, and Bangladesh, reaching 24 million people in nearly 20,000 villages in the most rural places imaginable. The Hunger Project focuses on chronic, persistent hunger as distinct from the acute famine emergencies that make the news. Chronic hunger is a silent invisible day-after-day condition that is often overlooked and misunderstood.”

Mandi has committed $5000 of her own funds to make the trip to Mexico possible – and her challenge now is to raise another $10,000 for The Hunger Project. And here is where our amazing Babyology community can get involved! The funds will be donated directly to The Hunger Project, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

“Being involved in this programme will be life changing and help me grow both personally and professionally. I hope to be a role model for my three young daughters and show them what can be achieved if we all have a common goal to work towards and step out of your comfort zone,” Mandi says.

Babyologists, we’d love you to dig deep and help end poverty. We’re aiming to help Mandi raise the $10,000 by October 11, and donations can be made via the donate button below.
