Hear some Disneyland magic

It’s not just what you see (but what you hear) that gives visitors the full Disneyland experience.

Whether you have plans to visit Disneyland or not, take ten minutes to watch this fascinating video about the magic behind Disneyland’s ‘soundtrack’.

The sound engineers (who claim to work in ‘imagineering’, where imagination and engineering skills meet) explain the hows and whys of Disneyland’s thousands of separate sound effects and the hidden speakers from which they play. For example, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride has over a hundred soundtracks and sound effects in it. Spare a thought also for the composer that had to ride the Space Mountain rollercoaster over and over again to get the tempo of the soundtrack right!

Special mention must be made of the first sound effects gadgets – ever wanted to recreate the noise a crackling fire makes? Watch and find out how!
