Why wear black tights or white socks when you can wrap your feet and legs in the cosy joy that is Hansel from Basel?
On one end of the Hansel from Basel spectrum, you’ll find colourful but normal socks. Royal blue ankle socks with white spots ($7), black tights with red toes and heels. On the other, more fun end, there are tights and socks that make up two halves of a smiley face, and anklets that look like little chubby, masked Lucha libre wrestlers ($15).
Designer Hannah Byun has fun with her work. Red socks with tiny white spots have green ankle ruffles and make feet look like strawberries. Leggings are colour-blocked with giant zigzags in orange, purple and coral ($21).
We could go on, but you should really just have a look.
Hansel from Basel is available online, but sadly at $40, shipping to Australia costs more than the socks themselves. Maybe you can order a few years’ worth of sizes or go in with your mothers’ group to make it worthwhile.
