And here we were thinking that ultrasound scans were used to check for ten little fingers and ten little toes – now mums are discovering guardian angels protecting their unborn babies inside the womb.
Kelly Lewis found something beautiful in a printed image taken during her ultrasound. Bending above her growing baby’s outline appears to be an angel, its own cherubic face almost as clear as the picture of Kelly’s baby girl.
Kelly, 26, shared the picture after a friend spotted the heavenly figure in the scan and pointed it out to her.
“It looks just like an angel is leaning over my baby, with a cherub face as well, hovering. It’s so clear, no-one could believe their eyes when they saw it,” she tells The Mirror.
She says she likes to think her daughter Harper, born in 2012, has been touched by an angel.
“Yes, I’d like to believe that this is an angel,” she says.
“It’s a nice thing to believe and a lovely thing to have.”
Kelly says her pregnancy with Harper was “amazing” and she feels her daughter has been “blessed”.
“People said it looked like someone leaning over her keeping her safe. She is such a well behaved little girl, it’s like she has been blessed,” Kelly says.
The angel ultrasound is a nice antidote to another ultrasound photo doing the rounds on social media of a baby seemingly being watched by a demon.
The pic, which has gone viral, has been described as “terrifying” and “creepy” by commenters who spot the devil likeness on the right.
Kelly said her friend saw the scan of the demon and it reminded him of her baby scan taken in 2012. She hopes that by sharing her scan it will detract from the unsettling demon ultrasound.
An ultrasound was the focal point for a funny new advertisement created for the US Super Bowl, giving Americans a taste for Aussie humour. The clip, made by Perth dad Peter Carstairs, shows a father who has clearly passed on his love of corn chips to his offspring.
