If ever you needed an excuse to slip your baby into a sling or carrier and gather some of your fellow baby wearing friends to have some fun, Baby Wearing Week has to be it. Not only is it a good reason for a catch up, you can raise valuable dollars for your local community!
This year marks the fifth annual celebration of Australia and New Zealand Babywearing Week, which runs simultaneously with International Babywearing Week from 5 – 11 October, 2014 and this year’s theme is perfect – Babywearing – Share the Adventure.
Babes In Arms, founders of Australia and New Zealand Babywearing Week and babywearing specialists. have $5000 to be awarded in Community Grants during this year’s event. As if that’s not enough, Babywearing Week has a haul of awesome sponsors too, with Hotmilk Lingerie, Pinky McKay’s Boobie Bikkies, Ergobaby, Mothers Direct and Koolaman all jumping on board to spread the babywearing love by donating raffle prizes valued at a combined $6000!
Everyone can join in and be in the running to win community grants and raise funds for local charities. Simply gather all your babywearing friends for a fun get together – be it a stroll along a local walking trail, to the beach, a fancy high tea or a big country picnic! All registered events qualify for a registration pack (regardless of whether they win the overall award category or not) which is filled with goods from event sponsors to raffle and raise funds for the event’s nominated charity. There’s even an incentive for being an event coordinator, with a $100 Babes in Arms voucher reward.
Events are registered under four award categories, each highlighting how modern parents can continue to enjoy active lifestyles – complete with baby in tow! The categories are: Babywearing Adventures Award, Babywearing High Tea Award, Babywearing and Breastfeeding Award, Babywearing and Regional Communities Award and each event is automatically entered into the Biggest Babywearing Group Award category. All you need do is decide what you’d like to do, register and then make a fun few hours of it!
