My eldest boy Felix is dead set going to be a vet; oh and an archaeologist and an actor. He already has a seven day schedule worked out so he can fit all three careers into one week. When I heard about the novel idea of Future Kids Vet Camp, I immediately thought this was a good way to introduce him to this great career, so he could get a feel for what it’s all about, on a six-year-old level.
It was a bit of a drive for us coming from the inner West to go East to Waverly, but it was totally worth it. Felix had a ball learning about cats, dogs, reptiles and all manner of other creatures, getting some hands-on experience and specific knowledge about handling animals. Future Vet Kids Camp is divided into two age group – six to nine and ten to twelve so that content is geared at the right levels.
With a jam-packed holiday program including animal safety, handling and basic care, trips to Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife World and a farm, as well as specialty visits from Darrelyn’s Feature Creatures and Dr Katrina Warren and The Wonderdogs, the children were absorbed in every minute of the week-long camp.
On the final day, students and their families were treated to an amazing show from Dr Katrina Warren and those amazingly talented Wonderdogs and it was wonderful to personally meet someone I have admired for years on television!
Book a place at Future Vet Kids Camp in Sydney, for your six to twelve-year-old for the July school holidays sessions which run across both weeks – choose from 2 to 6 July and 9 to 13 July. Your little future vet will love it! If there are similar camps across Australia, please do let us know about them by commenting below.
