Think the kids might be up for some fairytale magic? This reimagining of a classic is sure to get them huffing and puffing in the aisles, and there’s still time to snap up some tickets as a last-minute stocking filler. Step right this way to see how the Sydney Opera House is playing host to the most unique version of The Three Little Pigs your kids are likely to see!
The Big Bad Wolf and those three, wee little pigs are currently treading the boards at the iconic Sydney venue, in a musical version of a much-loved fairytale. Created by the award-winning team which dreamt up the magical Mary Poppins, The 3 Little Pigs was warmly received on the West End, and has now made its way to Australia.
George Stiles and Anthony Drewe have created an entire songbook of colourful music. The songs are perfectly matched with delightful dancing and incredible costumes, as the young audience follows the three little pigs on their merry way to build their homes.
But this isn’t just a retelling of the classic, it’s a whole new take, with hilarious twists and turns that will keep the kids on their toes. The three pigs, Bar, Bee and Q try to create homes that will keep the blues-loving Big Bad Wolf on the outer… but will it all turn out the way it does in the original fairytale?
Head of Children, Families and Creative Learning at the Sydney Opera House, Bridgette Van Leuven, says it’s a show that will be enjoyed by the whole family, “The 3 Little Pigs sets itself apart from other musicals with songs and a storyline that come together in a Broadway-style show for children. This is the ideal introduction to musical theatre for young audience members. Families will enjoy sharing this much-loved tale and singing along to the infectious songs.”
The 3 Little Pigs is currently showing at the Sydney Opera House until December 27, 2015, and you can view session times and purchase tickets online.
