Some people live in the balmy tropics (ahem, Queensland) where the sun is always shining and it’s never too cold for gelato. For the rest of us, there’s Smalls, a range of luxurious underclothes for kids made from gorgeous New Zealand Merino wool.
Smalls was created by two Kiwi mums living abroad in the the UK. They noticed that the Merino gear sent from New Zealand by grandparents kept kids warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It also stayed cleaner longer and kept its shape and colour in the wash. There wasn’t much in the way of nice Merino garments for older kids, and what do we do with gaps in the market? Fill them, of course! Smalls was born.
The Smalls range is, well, small. But in minimalism, they’ve found perfection. On offer are long-sleeved shirts – “longs” (£39.95) – and singlet tops – “tanks” (£26.95) – in lovely hues like dusty rose, navy and cream. In a nod to current trends, all the longs and tanks have contrasting fluoro stitching, turning the basic into the super cool. And apart from the pink, they’re all unisex so you can pass them down or share between brothers and sisters.
Great for any activity like playing outside, skiing, or having a wee rest, Smalls keeps little bodies comfortable and warm. Longs and tanks are available online and ship to Australia for £14. Locally, the collection is expected to be in store soon at Big Dreams.
