Fundy – the table that’s a whole lot of fun

Our house is so overrun with kid clutter that sometimes it’s hard to tell if grown-ups actually live here. That’s why I love finding children’s furniture that can serve a double purpose. Like our Boori cot that turns into a toddler’s bed. Love it. Or our cutesy firetruck toy box that doubles as a reading nook in my son’s bedroom. Ditto.

But what about a table that’s also a blackboard AND a storage box PLUS a nifty place for the kids to eat lunch, play games or go craft crazy? Pinch me, I think I’m dreaming!

The Fundy Play Table from Argington does all that while still managing to look incredibly stylish. The chalkboard top means you can wave goodbye to your old-fashioned, space-invading A-frame blackboard. Lift the top and there’s plenty of room inside to store Playdoh, paper, paints, crayons, chalk and any other craft paraphernalia. I like the idea, too, of storing Lego inside and using the table to build on. And I can easily see my three year old drawing a mess of roads and tracks on the top for his cars and trains to drive or chuff over.

But just in case all that isn’t enough, here’s another few reasons to love the Fundy. It’s made from eco-friendly plantation Baltic birch with non-toxic finishes and low-emission glues, so there’s no chemical nasties to leach out and bother your kids. The table also has locking castor wheels so you can easily move it around the house. And the lid lifts with slow closing safety hinges so little fingers stay safe. Did I mention it also makes a great coffee table?

The Fundy Play Table comes in three colours – natural, Babyology-preferred blue, and orange. It costs US$299 from Yoyashop, who also ship to Australia.
