Fun on the floor

Interior designer (and busy mum) Danielle Proud, is on a mission to carpet Britain. Quite simply, she loves carpet. On the floor, on the walls, to make furniture… the sky’s the limit in Danielle’s amazing Fun on the Floor house.

Danielle has transformed a London townhouse to showcase how carpet can be used as an interior design element. The results are dramatic and colourful, and will certainly make you think about the qualities of carpet in a new way.

The Fun on the Floor house features a jungle-style children’s bedroom with huge ‘flower chairs’ in bright orange and pink – made from carpet naturally – and stunning carpet foliage shrouding a loft bed.

Equally lovely is the ‘starlight’ hall carpeting – tiny lights embedded in a dark plush pile to give the effect of a night sky. You’ll know you’re moments away from sweet dreams walking over that!

You have to see it to believe it, so take the tour.

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
