From Russia with love – measuring with matryoshka!

My four-year-old loves to cook but there’s a fine line between helping and hindrance. Thankfully I’ve brushed up on my negotiating skills and with gentle persuasion, he’s limited to measuring, pouring and stirring.

Now I love a great useful novelty kitchen item, but fear any last remnant of control I have over the measuring will be lost with this fabulously fun Babushka measuring cup set by Fred.

I am actually quite impressed by the measurements themselves – there’s ¼ cup, 1/3 cup, ½ cup, 2/3 cup, ¾ cup and one whole cup. The fact that all these measuring cups nest within each other in traditional Russian matryoshka style is a blessing; it means no more rifling through the drawer for that one cup that always escapes from the set.

The Babushka measuring cup set is made from a food safe, heavy duty plastic. I really want a set myself and cross my fingers they will bounce off the lino floor when inevitably dropped from bench height by my four-year-old when the negotiation is unsuccessful.

The set of three Babushka measuring cups is priced at $18.95 from Urban Baby.
