Four reasons why you should never breastfeed in public

Have some respect ladies. Breastfeeding should be done at home, behind closed doors, away from impressionable eyes. And preferably with a rather large dose of humour, as this tongue-in-cheek video demonstrates.

With so much negativity surrounding breastfeeding in public – including women being told to cover up by complete strangers, it’s refreshing to indulge in a little light relief.

If you’ve ever struggled with trying to cover your feeding baby in public, or had someone accuse you of being an exhibitionist when breastfeeding – take heart in mother of three, Kristina Kuzmic’s Four Reasons Women Should Never Breastfeed in Public.

“By breastfeeding in public, we are spreading the lie that breasts have a purpose other than just to turn someone on,” she says. “That kinda like could totally screw kids up.”

As she points out – using a breastfeeding cover isn’t a fail-safe, because ‘spoilt brat’ babies can pull them off. Why babies would do this baffles Kristina, because as she puts it, “I don’t see what’s so uncomfortable about eating with a cover on your head. That’s not sweaty or hot or dark or claustrophobic at all”.

And quite possibly our favourite line: “Women who breastfeed in public aren’t doing it because their babies are actually hungry. No-oo. They’re just doing it to seduce your husbands.”

Here’s more of Kristina’s brilliant spiel on breastfeeding in public.

We just love her humorous take on the simple task of feeding a child while in the real world.
