I seriously love blocks, and believe they’re are a fantastic toy for any child – I can sing the praises for a while; they’re great for extending a child’s imagination, learning to count and teaching the difference between colours. The one thing that kind of irritates me about blocks though is the fact that they can be noisy… clattering plastic on hardwood floors is enough to wake a baby in this house! Thank goodness for the Japan based Tetsup Tonouchi, the toy designer who has come up with these environmentally friendly (and ever so quiet) TONO-8 Cork Blocks.
These lightweight packs of blocks are available either beautifully coloured with non-toxic paints or natural cork and beautifully packed in a compact box. Each set consists of 16 blocks and three different shapes, resulting in you (or your small person) being able to make so many creations – cars, fish, buildings you name it, it’s possible! These would be the kind of thing you’d find in my handbag to amuse bored kids.
