There has always been a market for personalised children’s products. Whilst my brother, Russell, used to despair that they never had his name on the personalised mugs, key-rings and bedroom door signs popular in the eighties, printing technology these days is such that you can get any name put on just about anything.
Flatten Me create personalised storybooks using a photo of your child. There are six stories available including tales about fish, fairies, pirates and monsters. Most of the stories are told as a rhyme and I can’t help thinking that the ‘Potty Dance’ book might come in handy when I toilet train my daughter this summer. With lines such as ‘They refuse to go, they squirm in their pants! They itch and they twitch and then start to dance…’, combined with a picture of her royal highness on the throne, it may help the process along! Either way, the pictures of a child doing the polka in Poland, the mambo in Mexico and dancing around a maypole in Sweden, all with strategically placed toilets in the background, is quite funny.
Also available in the Flatten Me range are personalised cards with themes including trains, spaceships, dragons and more. Books are $49.95 and cards are $34.95 for a set of twelve.
