For the first time in more than a century, the Underdahl family has been tickled pink with the arrival of a baby girl – the first girl to be born in the family for 102 years. Little miss Aurelia has broken the unbelievable record that has stood since 1914.
Aurelia Marie Ann arrived on April 12, the first girl in a very, very long line of boys for the Underdahls. A girl had not been born into the family since the birth of Bernice, Aurelia’s great-great-great aunt.
“She’s pretty special, she’s kind of a miracle,” says proud mum Ashton about her new daughter.
Scott and Ashton Underdahl thought they were expecting another boy and almost didn’t believe the news it was a girl after finding out the sex at 20 weeks. The couple have a son, Archer, 22 months.
Scott was in shock for several days, Ashton says.
“He was like ‘Really? Really? Are you sure?'” she says.
“He kept thinking, even though we were in the delivery room, ‘What if they made a mistake and it’s been a boy all along?'”
The family was unaware of the male streak until Scott’s dad started researching the family history.
“It will be fun. She’ll add in some pink and some sweet!,” Ashton says.
