Family holidays go high-octane at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi

People used to say, “Only in Vegas!” but I think Abu Dhabi now takes the title as the most luxe, most decadent and most out-of-this-world destination desired by jet-setters. Let’s start with the luxury hotel that boasts a Formula One race track running through its centre.

The Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi is unquestionably awe inspiring. Perched over land, water and the Yas Marina Circuit racetrack, the hotel boasts almost five hundred rooms and suites, twelve restaurants, all the facilities you would expect at a hotel of this calibre and a landmark LED light canopy that is nothing short of spectacular.

The rooms are fitted with sleek, bespoke furnishings, dominated by curved lines and sumptuous details – take a peek at some of the incredible bathrooms. The hotel’s canopy grid passes in front of many of the guestrooms, framing views of Yas Island and the Yas Marina Circuit.

You are probably wondering what’s at the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi for children. There’s no ‘kid’s club’, no mini bathrobes and no toddler swimming pool. But if racing cars are your thing then the hotel’s Family Fun package is for you. The package includes two interconnecting deluxe rooms plus access to nearby Ferrari World (dads, sit up and take notice!).

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the world’s first Ferrari theme park and, being racing red, you can expect that everything goes a little faster on these amusement park rides!

Ferrari World is home to more than twenty state-of-the-art rides and attractions including a G-force experience taking passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up over sixty metres, racing simulators using a similar system as those used by the Ferrari racing team and a flume ride journey through the heart of a Ferrari 599 engine, complete with giant pistons and exhaust pipes.

The star attraction at Ferrari World is the world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, which travels at speeds exceeding two hundred and forty kilometres an hour and emulates the feeling of being in an F1 car. The rollercoaster track is inspired by some of the most famous race tracks in the world and includes chicanes, hair-raising turns and a fifty-two metre fly through the sky – yikes!

Younger visitors can expect a driving and racing school with training from the experts, an aerial voyage over Italy following a Ferrari, a racing car carousel and a drive around a miniature Italy in a vintage Ferrari. There’s also the chance to check out the largest collection of classic and modern Ferrari race cars outside of the company’s Maranello headquarters in Italy.

Rooms at the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi begin at approximately $210 per night for a standard room and range up to $5370 per night for the Yas Presidential Suite. All hotel bookings can be made online and you can also book flights to Abu Dhabi online directly through Flight Centre.
