Fair trade, handmade children’s knitwear from Miou

Got a winter baby on the way? Here’s some seriously stunning handmade goodness to add to your stockpile of newborn clothing. All fair trade, and all amazing.

Vintage knits have made an almighty comeback, and with just cause – they’re adorable. A throwback to simple clothing, made well. Miou – created by French native Christine Dubin (who now lives in Canada), is all about creating quality children’s clothing and accessories with a vintage twist.

Not only is the range gorgeous, but Miou works with women in developing countries in a fair trade partnership. Miou says its mission is to create children’s clothing using practices and products that don’t negatively impact the environment, or the women who create it.

The range includes hand knitted and crocheted pieces, made from alpaca fibre or cotton. The alpaca babies collection includes dresses for CAD$99 and beautifully detailed bonnets for CAD$42.

The cotton boys’ collection is a real departure from the usual knits, with sleeveless sweaters CAD$64 and and cool crochets hats for CAD$32. Shipping to Australia is available, and the cost depends on the size of the order.
