It’s being reported that Anna and Enrique, who have been together for more than fifteen years, became parents twice-over, earlier this month.
Nicholas and Lucy
They also tell us the babies are named Nicholas and Lucy.
The couple are notoriously private and chances are they won’t make a public statement at all. It’s part of a broader push by high-profile types to keep their children far from the spotlight – and we can’t say we blame them.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell and Jennifer Garner are amongst a growing number of celebrity parents who aim to keep their kids off Instagram and away from paparazzi, when possible.
Anna and Enrique began dating in 2001, but Anna has never been keen to talk about their relationship, preferring to keep her private life just that. This comes in the wake of relentless media coverage, when she was hounded by the press, first over her possible marriage to NHL ice hockey player, Pavel Bure and then seemingly endless covers and features celebrating what some unimaginative types saw as an unusual combination of good looks and champion tennis skills.
It’s hardly surprising that she’s over the scrutiny and keen to live her life away from the media glare, after so many years of attracting speculation and invasive, prying eyes.
In 2000, Anna was the world No. 8 singles player. When playing doubles, she was at times the world No. 1 player. She and partner Martina Hingis won Australian Grand Slam titles in 1999 and 2002. The pair also won the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Championships in 1999 and 2000.
Enrique is no stranger to the spotlight either, as the son of journalist Isabel Preysler and much-loved-by-our-nannas singer Julio Iglesias. Not only does Enrique have a career as a successful recording artist, he’s been pretty keen to make his mark on screen and stage too.
It would seem that he’s now ticked “dad” off a bucket list that previously included singer, philanthropist, actor, producer and musical star.
Congratulations to Anna and Enrique!
