I always have my eye out for something a little unusual and different when it comes to art and these gems from UK artist Gemma Correll fit the bill perfectly. What more is there to love than an ampersand (the official name for an ‘&’ symbol, in case you’re wondering) that doubles as a piece of art?
A long time fan of letters, symbols and the like, I can’t help but swoon when they’re turned into works of art. I’m not sure what grabs my eye first – the ampersand shape or the beautiful mix of orange and black – but whatever it is, it draws my eye closer to reveal a myriad of mini illustrations such as a rainbow, guitar, even an igloo within the print space (as seen above). Printed onto textured paper for a gorgeous embossed effect, this Letterpress Ampersand print is at the top of my ‘want’ list.
Gemma Correll also has a love of pugs which is evident in her artwork. Her cards would make a fabulous framed display for someone looking for a quirky edge to their children’s room decor. Pugs in pastel, anyone?
The Ampersand Letterpress print is priced at US$20 and individual cards are priced from US$3.50 from Gemma Correll. Delivery to Australia from the UK is super easy and affordable.
