It’s the announcement sure to warm the hearts of Frozen fans everywhere – Disney is making a sequel to the global megahit movie.
Yep, that’s right, not a short film, but an actual full-length feature, Frozen 2. After months of speculation, The Walt Disney Company boss Bob Iger, chief creative officer John Lasseter and Josh Gad, voice of Olaf, announced at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting overnight that the hotly anticipated sequel is in the works.

And if that’s not enough exciting news for one day, how about this bonus extra: just hours after announcing Frozen 2, Disney released the new single from the coming Frozen Fever short. Making Today A Perfect Day is now available for download from iTunes. Frozen Fever will be released in Australian cinemas later this month, in front of the new Cinderella live-action film. But back to Frozen 2 – it will reunite the Oscar-winning team behind the original, including director Chris Buck, director/writer Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho. And of course, it’s expected to include Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa) and co. Here’s what Bell had to say about the announcement on social media:

Gad posted a photo from the Disney shareholders’ meeting, with the caption: “Backstage with #JohnLasseter after announcing #Frozen2. As you can see we are not mildly excited.”
Menzel, who sang the film’s blockbuster song, Let It Go, foreshadowed a sequel and stage show back in November, reports the Daily Mail. The first movie raked in $1.3 billion at the box office – and that’s not even including the plethora of Frozen merchandise on store shelves.
